Class A or Class B
- Class A: common wounds, minor burns and eye injuries, for lower-risk sites.
- Class B: a broader, larger set for crowded, complex or higher-risk sites.
How to Choose
- Look at your injury log and your actual hazards.
- Scale up for headcount and shifts, and consider several kits on big sites.
- Add items for specific risks, such as burn or eye-wash supplies.
- Corrosive chemicals call for quick-drench or eye-wash facilities under 1910.151(c).
Keep It Ready
Assign someone to check kits regularly, replace used and expired items and note the date. Get people trained at a CPR and first aid class. Construction sites have a parallel rule at 29 CFR 1926.50.
